The saddest news of all has come... Romano Scarpa passed away, peacefully in his sleep, on the morning of saturday the 23rd of April, 2005, at 77.
He leaves wife Sandra and daughter Sabina, to whom our condolences go, among those of countless fans all over the world.

In this time of mourning, however, we should rejoice in Romano's inheritance, which is one of joy and laughter, of tolerance and respect for his fellow man. Often aptly compared to great filmmaker Frank Capra, Romano contributed in teaching us that it's indeed a Wonderful Life, even though sometimes we tend to forget it under the pressure. In his truly cinematic way of narration and drawing, he gave us adventure, thrill (Alfred Hitchcock being another of his main references), fun, but especially a lesson in friendship and love.

Truly great artists never die. They go to sleep, taking a well earned rest and leaving their work behind as a testimony for future generations yet to come.

Good night Romano, sweet prince, may your slumber be restful and full of wonderful dreams, like the ones you donated to us in half a century of craft, professionalism, but especially, once again, love, because that's really all we need, isn't it ?
